Command reference
Moria commands require administrator permissions. /moria find gives you coordinates in Moria; it does not teleport you.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/moria find <type> |
Find a structure, lake, ore deposit or avenue |
/moria find <type> next |
Find another result of the same type |
/moria find biome <identifier> |
Find a biome |
/moria survey <radius> |
Search the surrounding area for ancient gate locations |
/moria retrofit [radius] |
Search already explored areas for gates |
/moria status |
Show gate search progress |
/moria locate |
Locate the nearest known portal gate |
/moria reset throne |
Restore the king and reset his treasury |
For <type>, use mine, forge, gate, watch, archive, necropolis, city, village, throne, lake, lode or avenue.
find gate locates a fortified ruin. To find a portal between Moria and the Overworld, use locate.
Search history and biomes
Start with a normal search, then add next to find another location:
/moria find mine
/moria find mine next
The server remembers results separately for each player and search type. A normal search starts over, as does a server restart. If you begin with next, it skips the nearest result.
Use these identifiers for biome searches:
| Biome | Identifier |
|---|---|
| Deep Halls | deep_halls |
| Underground Lake | underground_lake |
| Sunken Forges | sunken_forges |
| Petrified Forest | petrified_forest |
| Forgotten Gardens | forgotten_gardens |
| Titans’ Graveyard | titans_graveyard |
| Royal Geodes | royal_geodes |
| Silent Depths | silent_depths |
/moria find biome royal_geodes
/moria find biome underground_lake next
/moria find silent_depths
Non-lake biomes also accept /moria find <identifier>. Only lake searches support next among the biomes.
Gate searches
Run these commands from the area you want to search. Wait for the search to finish before using locate.
/moria survey 0
/moria status
/moria locate
For areas explored before installing Moria, use /moria retrofit. It works in the Overworld or Moria and defaults to radius zero.
Both searches accept a radius from 0 to 3. Larger searches cover more ground and may take longer.
| Radius | Regions searched |
|---|---|
| 0 | 1, your current region |
| 1 | 9 |
| 2 | 25 |
| 3 | 49 |
A region is 24 chunks across by default. Change this with portal_spacing_chunks. Searches may generate new terrain, and every gate needs a suitable cave.
Reset a throne encounter
Stand inside the throne hall or treasury and run /moria reset throne.
The command restores the king, removes his summoned dwarves and locks the treasury. It clears the four treasury reward chests without dropping their contents. Take anything you want to keep before resetting.
Players inside the treasury move into the arena before it closes; spectators can stay. Other rooms, the entrance chest and player inventories are preserved. With Lootr, each player can claim the new encounter’s rewards.
Teleport and summon
Replace X Y Z with the coordinates you want to reach. Ore deposits are inside rock, so use Spectator mode when teleporting to a lode.
/execute in moria:depths run tp @s X Y Z
/summon moria:basalisk ~ ~ ~
/summon moria:dwarf_miner ~ ~ ~
/summon moria:dwarf_guard ~ ~ ~
/summon moria:dwarf_elder ~ ~ ~
/summon moria:fallen_king ~ ~ ~
Summoning and defeating another king will not open a throne room’s treasury. You must defeat the king who guards that room.
Server-console examples
Omit the leading slash in the server console. Replace PlayerName with an online player to run a command from their position.
execute as PlayerName at @s run moria find village
execute as PlayerName at @s run moria survey 0
moria status
execute as PlayerName at @s run moria locate
execute as PlayerName at @s run moria retrofit 1
For a throne reset, have that player stand inside the hall or treasury, then run:
execute as PlayerName at @s run moria reset throne
