Installation & servers

Choose a loader, install dependencies and prepare a server.

Choose your edition

Download Moria Depths on CurseForge and choose the file for your Minecraft version and loader. You also need GeckoLib, plus Fabric API if you use Fabric.

Edition Minecraft Java Matching dependencies
Forge 1.20.1 17 Forge 47.3.0; GeckoLib 4.7.1.3
NeoForge 1.21.1 21 NeoForge 21.1.248; GeckoLib 4.9.2
Fabric 1.21.1 21 Fabric Loader 0.19.3; Fabric API 0.116.12+1.21.1; GeckoLib 4.9.2
Forge 26.3 25 Forge 66.0.8; GeckoLib 5.5.7

Use the versions listed for your edition. Compatibility with newer dependency versions can vary.

Client installation

  1. Choose a Minecraft installation with the matching version and loader.
  2. Place its Moria Depths JAR and GeckoLib JAR in mods/. On Fabric, also install Fabric API.
  3. Keep only one Moria Depths JAR in the folder.
  4. Launch the game. The mod creates config/moria.properties on first launch.
  5. Enter a world and explore Overworld caves for an ancient gate.

Dedicated servers

Install the same edition and required dependencies on the server and every player’s client. Stop the server before replacing JARs or changing its configuration, then start it with the launch script supplied by your loader.

Gameplay uses the server’s config/moria.properties. Configuration changes require a restart. Back up the world and configuration before updating an existing server or changing world-generation settings.

Administrators can use Moria’s commands to find structures and gates. That page includes examples for the server console.

Existing saves

The mod can be added to an existing save. Newly explored Overworld caves can host entrances. Use /moria retrofit to search already explored regions. Keep terrain settings stable once you start a world.
